Hi, I’m Philip Wilder

I’m 26 years old, I grew up in Denver, Colorado, and am definitely not your normal kind of guy. I love climbing pretty much anything as long as I won’t get thrown in jail. You can often find me exploring creation during one of my crazy adventures, running my heart out in a game of soccer or ultimate frisbee, or sitting out in the wilderness on my hammock writing a book. Other things I love are Star Wars, snowboarding, board games, hanging out with friends, eggnog, jokes, swing-dancing, and anything to do with water. But, above all, I love Jesus.

It’s hard to believe I started out as a cautious shy little squirt, who never liked meeting new people nor dared ride anything bigger than the kiddie roller-coaster. I suppose Jesus wasn’t kidding when he said “I will make you into a new creation.” I may talk a little too much now and do stunts that make my friends cringe.

I’ve been writing since before I could write and had to draw pictures and dictate to my mom what I wanted to be written on each page. Eventually, this turned into full-sized novels. I’ve written six books now, four of which you will have to do a lot of begging to get me to share them with you. I keep those ones hidden away.

After working and volunteering for several years with Christian ministries, God called me off to the Middle East for two years. Now, I live in Albuquerque, NM working with the Great Commission Alliance.

I honestly don’t entirely know where God is leading me. I know he wants to use my love of writing fiction, and I believe he’s given me a passion for the lost and to train others in evangelism and discipleship for a reason. Besides that, the rest is a mystery. I suppose God also doesn’t like to spoil the endings in the stories he writes.

Here’s a fun fact, Philip Wilder is not my real name. I use this name because God is the one who deserves the praise, not me, and because this name protects me if God leads me back to do missions work in the Middle East. Oddly enough, this isn’t my first pen name either. If you want to hear more of how this pen name came to be, you can read my blog post “The Beginning of a Long Journey“.
